Foundations of Process Discovery

چکیده

Abstract Process discovery is probably the most interesting, but also challenging, process mining task. The goal to take an event log containing example behaviors and create a model that adequately describes underlying process. This chapter introduces baseline approach used in commercial tools. A simplified so-called Directly-Follows Graph (DFG). explain challenges one faces when trying discover model. After introducing DFG discovery, we focus on techniques are able models allowing for concurrency (e.g., Petri nets, trees, BPMN models). distinguishes two types of approaches such models: (1) bottom-up (2) top-down . Alpha algorithm presented as technique. has many limitations, nicely idea discovering local constraints. basic inductive approach, combined with frequency-based filtering, works well logs. These algorithms illustrate foundations discovery.

Foundations of Prescriptive Process Monitoring

Predictive process monitoring is concerned with the analysis of events produced during the execution of a process in order to predict the future state of ongoing cases thereof. Existing techniques in this field are able to predict, at each step of a case, the likelihood that the case will end up in an undesired outcome. These techniques, however, do not take into account what process workers ma...

Foundations of Designing Computational Knowledge Discovery Processes

We propose a new paradigm for computational knowledge discovery, called VOX (View Oriented eXploration). Recent research has revealed that actual discoveries cannot be achieved using only component technologies such as machine learning theory or data mining algorithms. Recognizing how the computer can assist the actual discovery tasks, we developed a solution to this problem. Our aim is to cons...

Foundations of Data Mining and knowledge Discovery

This paper discusses a view to capture discovery as a translation from non-symbolic to symbolic representation. First, a relation between symbolic processing and non-symbolic processing is discussed. An intermediate form was introduced to represent both of them in the same framework and clarify the difference of these two. Characteristic of symbolic representation is to eliminate quantitative m...

The Process of Discovery

This paper argues that all discoveries, if they can be viewed as autonomous learning from the environment, share a common process. This is the process of model abstraction involving four steps: act, predict, surprise, and reene, all built on top of the discoverer's innate actions, percepts, and mental constructors. The evidence for this process is based on observations on various discoveries, r...

Process-Algebraic Foundations of Aspect-Oriented Programming

Process algebras are proposed as a foundation for aspectoriented programming. A particular process algebra is described, and programs illustrating its use in programming are given. It is argued that the framework clarifies the notion of equivalence between programs and correctness of aspect-weaving algorithms. The question of which notion of equivalence is most appropriate is discussed from the...
